Even though its main focus is to protect the .gov domain against cyberattacks, this initiative is a step towards acknowledging the seriousness of new sophisticated data threats.
Tom Kellerman, chief cybersecurity officer at Carbon Black and a member of former president Obama’s Commission on Cyber Security, talked about the positives of CISA in a recent interview:
“The Achilles heel of America is her cybersecurity posture. This new agency represents a cosmic shift in governance toward civilizing American cyberspace.”
The US government is taking a step towards protecting its own domains, but unlike the EU legislation, it does not protect personal data held by private corporations.
